Dr. Mahesha Vankalakunti is an MBBS graduate from Karnataka Medical College in Hubli, India. During graduation he developed interest in basic sciences and would spend time in laboratory. Later he complete post graduation MD in Pathology in 2004 at one of the premiere institutes in India, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education Research (PGIMER), in Chandigarh. He worked as a Senior Resident for 3 years at the same Institute. His further academic programs include a 1-year Post Doctoral Course in “Medical Renal Disease & Transplant Pathology” at PGIMER. Continuing his interest in the renal system, he pursued a 1-year post-doc fellow in “Medical Renal Disease & Urologic Pathology” at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.
To his credit, there are 33 articles published in national & international journals and he has co-authored a text book for Amirsys titled, Diagnostic Pathology: Genitourinary. He has delivered guest lectures at national meetings and presented his work at national & international conferences.
Currently, Dr. Mahesha Vankalakunti is continuing his career as Consultant Pathologist in the Department of Pathology & Lab Medicine at Manipal Hospital at Bangalore, India. He has established a histopathology laboratory on par with labs located in the USA, with respect to Medical Renal/Transplant Pathology and Urologic Pathology, that is being considered as a referral center in Southern India.
