Yuko Sugiyama. MD, PhD, FIAC, is the Director of Department of Cytology and Vice Director of Department of Gynecology of the Cancer Institute Hospital (Tokyo, Japan). She holds dual specialization (cytopathologist and gynecologic oncologist) and places great importance on gynecologic cancer patient care by providing both diagnostic and treatment services. Her academic area of interest is early detection of cervical and endometrial cancers through cytology. She is the pioneer of endometrial cytology where she has both developed diagnostic techniques (endometrial cytology of direct sampling method) and direct sampling device.
