Dr. B.K. Kleinschmidt-DeMasters received her MD from the University of Wisconsin and is board certified in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology and Neuropathology. She has been a tenured full professor in Pathology, Neurology, and Neurosurgery at the University of Colorado-Denver since 1997. The education of pathologists and neurologists on a national level is a commitment of Dr. DeMasters. She is a past president for the American Association of Neuropathologists, recently completed a 6-year term as the Chairperson of the College of American Pathologists Neuropathology Committee, and a 14-year term on the American Academy of Neurology Residency In-service Training Examination Advisory Panel.  She currently serves as a member of the American Board of Pathology and on the editorial boards of 5 journals. She actively reviews for several other journals as well, has co-authored over 20 book chapters, and published over 250 peer-reviewed papers. Dr. DeMasters’ research interests include CNS infections, radiation-induced secondary brain tumors, pituitary adenomas, and iatrogenic diseases (central pontine myelinolysis, radiation and chemotherapy effects on brain and toluene abuse).
