Dr. Sanjay Jain is Associate Professor of Internal Medicine (Renal), Pathology & Immunology and the Director of Kidney Translational Research Core and biorepository for benign urological diseases at the Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, MO. Dr. Jain did his undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley, received his MD and PhD degrees from Northwestern University, completed his Residency training in Anatomic Pathology, and Post-doctoral training at Washington University Medical School, St. Louis.
Dr. Jain is internationally recognized for his work on Gdnf-Ret signaling, kidney and urinary tract development and congenital anomalies of kidney or urinary tract (CAKUT). He wrote several chapters on kiidney development and congenital renal malformations in Diagnostic Pathology: Kidney Disease, published by Amirsys. His expertise in biobanking and translational research has helped more than 50 investigators worldwide. His research is focused on using interdisciplinary approaches in genomics, molecular genetics, and model systems to understand the mechanisms of formation of the urinary tract, factors important in normal and abnormal development and diseases and interactions between the nervous and urinary systems.
