Dr. Nina Gale is a Professor of Pathology in the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Medicine, Institute of Pathology (UL FM IP). She is mainly involved in head and neck pathology and over a 30-year period of her academic career she has published about 120 articles, 1 book, and contributed  several chapters in 10 textbooks and scientific books as follows: Epithelial Hyperplastic Lesions of the Larynx (Elsevier 1995), WHO Classification Head and Neck of Tumours (IARC 2005),  Head and Neck Pathology ( Churchill Livingstone, Elsevier 2006 1st edition and Elsevier 2013 2nd edition),  Pathology of the Head and Neck (Springer 2006), Cancer Grading Manuel (Springer  2007 1st edition and Springer 2013 2nd edition), Diagnostic Surgical pathology of the Head and Neck (Saunders, 2009), Pathologie. Kopf-Hals-Regionen Weichgewebstumoren Haut (Springer 2009), Guidelines for Molecular Analysis and Archive Tissues (Springer 2011), and Diagnostic Pathology: Head and Neck (Amirsys 2011). Dr. Gale finished her residency of pathology at the UL FM IP, Slovenia in 1982. During the period from 2001 to March 2013, she was the Director of the IP FM UL. She has devoted her research work to head and neck carcinogenesis, etiology of head and neck cancer, and classification and genetic changes of epithelial precursor lesions in the head and neck. Recently she is involved in the interdisciplinary studies of a role of HPV infections and tumorigenesis in the head and neck.
