Julie C. Fanburg-Smith, MD is an international consultant in Orthopaedic, Soft Tissue, and Surgical Pathology. After a fellowship in Surgical Pathology, Soft Tissue, and Bone Pathology at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard University Hospital, she was the Deputy Chair and Director of Education of Orthopaedic and Soft Tissue Pathology at AFIP for 15 years. Dr. Fanburg-Smith is currently on staff at Sibley Memorial Hospital of Johns Hopkins Medicine in Washington DC, where she practices Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, runs the Surgical Pathology Consultation Services, and is Professor of Pathology at Georgetown, USUHS and Howard Universities. She has published over 200 peer-reviewed publications and invited chapters, including for the World Health Organization Bone and Soft Tissue and Head and Neck Tumours. She is on the editorial board of Annals of Diagnostic Pathology and Skeletal Radiology, teaches locally, nationally, and internationally, is an active member of USCAP, invited member of International Skeletal Society (ISS), and on the CAP Surgical Pathology committee.
