Dr. Billings graduated from the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, where he also completed a residency in both anatomic and clinical pathology. Following residency Dr. Billings completed a fellowship in soft tissue pathology with Dr. Sharon Weiss at Emory University. After the soft tissue pathology fellowship, he returned to Indiana University School for a dermatopathology fellowship with Dr. Antoinette Hood. Upon completion of his post graduate studies, he joined the faculty at Indiana University School of Medicine. In 2007 he joined the faculty at the Cleveland Clinic where he serves as co-director of the dermatopathology section and also staffs the soft tissue pathology service. His research interests are in dermatopathology and soft tissue pathology with a special emphasis on cutaneous soft tissue tumors. He is the author of numerous articles and book chapters and co-authored a book on inflammatory diseases of the skin. He is a peer reviewer and editorial board member for several journals. He has a strong interest in education and gives numerous courses and lectures for pathology residents and practicing pathologists.
