Amin, Mahul B., MD

Dr. Mahul B. Amin is the Chairman & Professor of the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He earned his medical degree at G.S. Medical College & King Edward Memorial Hospital in Bombay, India. Dr. Amin is a national/international consultant in tumors of the genitourinary tract, including prostate, urinary bladder, kidney, and testis.  He is a world-renowned expert and educator in genitourinary pathology having co-authored the current WHO classification systems for urothelial tumors and renal neoplasms. Dr. Amin’s scientific interests are in the discovery and validation of biomarkers in urologic malignancies for clinical personalized medicine. Dr. Amin has co-authored 10 books, authored over 262 publications & 35 book chapters, and has given over 292 urologic pathology lectures & courses in 20 countries.  He was on the Executive Committee of the American Joint Commission on Cancer (AJCC) (2003-2011), a member of the Genitourinary Cancer Staging Task Force, 7th Edition of AJCC staging & lead coordinator of the prostate cancer staging system.  In 2013, Dr. Amin was appointed as Editor-in-Chief, 8th edition of the AJCC staging manual where he will coordinate the activities of over 500 national/international authorities in cancer to outline the next edition of cancer staging. In 2010, Dr. Amin was the recipient of 2 highly prestigious College of American Pathologists awards: the Foundation Lansky Award and the Distinguished Service Award.
